An Open Letter from Lawrence Palevsky, M.D.

Lawrence Palevsky, M.D. is a New York pediatrician who will be speaking at NVIC’s Fourth International Public Conference on Vaccination. Following is an open letter to doctors and health care professionals inviting them to attend and learn more about the science, policy, law, ethics and politics of vaccination.

Dear Friends and Colleagues:

I am writing to invite you to attend the National Vaccine Information Center’s Fourth International Public Conference on Vaccination Oct. 1-4, 2009 at the Hyatt Regency in Reston, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. and Dulles International Airport. Go to www.NVIC.org to learn about more than 35 first class speakers from around the world, and register now.

Lines Have Been Drawn in the Sand

The current vaccine controversy is intense. Lines have been drawn in the sand. “Pro-forced vaccinators” are being lionized, while “pro-informed choice” advocates are being harassed and demonized. The current public conversation about vaccination is often one-sided. Science has been replaced with dogma. Lost in the rhetoric is respect for good science and the ethical practice of medicine.

Create a Different Conversation

I am appealing to you to consider creating a different conversation about vaccines. One that allows for independent thought and analysis of contradictions and inconsistencies. One that acknowledges what is and is not known about vaccination, and considers the possibility that some of our current teaching and policy decisions about vaccines may be wrong, or even compromising the health of children and adults. And, one that opens our minds to a new way of thinking about wellness, illness and individual and public health.

A Groundbreaking, Historic Event

This NVIC sponsored vaccine conference will discuss the science, policy, ethics, law and politics of vaccination. It will be educational and experiential. At this groundbreaking, historic event, you will hear a perspective on vaccines and what it means to be healthy, from top scientists, doctors, bioethicists, legal experts and health freedom advocates, who are not afraid to discuss cutting edge issues rarely talked about in the mainstream media or in medical arenas.

A Return to Ethics-Based Medicine

By attending this conference, you are choosing to learn, and to be provided with more information than you already have about acute and chronic diseases and vaccines. You are also choosing to learn more about why support for the informed ethic in medicine and public health policy is important for you, your patients and the public. By attending this conference and learning from experts, who will present scientific evidence and argue for respect for biodiversity and a return to ethics-based medicine, you are choosing to be pro-education and pro-informed consent and NOT “anti-vaccine.”

· If you have doubts that hardline, one-size-fits-all vaccine policies are completely safe and effective;

· If you are concerned that conflicts of interest might be impacting negatively on vaccine science and policy making;

· If you are witnessing more of your patients, young and old, developing chronic health problems following vaccination but are conflicted because you have been taught that “vaccines don’t do that;”

· If you are wondering, in the back of your mind, if the increasing numbers of children suffering from learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, autism, asthma, inflammatory bowel disorders, diabetes and other brain and immune system problems may have something to do with too many vaccines being given;

· If you are worried that your patients are losing the freedom to make voluntary health care choices, and that health care providers are losing the freedom to provide holistic, complementary or alternative medicine;

· If you believe that there is more to know about vaccines than what you’ve been taught, and you are worried or uncertain about what you might never have been told;

· If you are open-minded, or in any way skeptical, and ready to be presented with new scientific and clinical evidence that challenges your pre-conceived ideas about vaccination and health; and

If you want to discover new ideas for how to care for children and adults you see in your practice, THIS CONFERENCE IS FOR YOU.

Bring an open mind.

Bring your curiosity.

Bring a readiness to be challenged, and a willingness to become a more enlightened, confident and successful clinician.

Bring an attitude that welcomes new thinking, and new information.

And, most importantly, bring your friends and your colleagues.

Dare to open your mind to new information and new possibilities.

I appreciate Dr. Palevsky's invitation to the International Public Conference on vaccination. This topic is very important to me as a mother of five children. I would love to attend this conference but will not since I live in Illinois and have limited resources at this time. Is there any way that transcripts or cd's of the presentations could be made available for saleto the public after the conference? I believe parents desperately need this information in their hands, especially at this time with rumors of pandemics,etc.
Please let me know if the conference presentations will be made available to the public for purchase.

Right on! Obviously Dr. Palevsky is one of the better doctors who understands that peddling endless pharmaceuticals and vaccines is very destructive to one's health. The natural state of the human body is health, NOT disease! I for one absolutely demand that I decide what treatment (if needed) should be administered. As a person in his late sixties, who has never had surgery, never have had more than a common cold and never taken any medication whatsoever including aspirin, I believe I can say with confidence that healthy living habits (diet, exercise, state-of-mind) are critically important. The problem is this. How can a pharmaceutical company make money from someone's healthy living habits?

why are not more people getting on board with this topic of
vaccine safety and choices?

when i look at youtube videos about vaccines, i dont find many
viewers as compared to other topics----and considering
this is life or death, health, natural immunity vs possible damage..... there should be more involvement.

how do we get the word out to more people? When gardisil
for example, is in the news (ABC reported a cautionary
report a few days ago (end august)people should mobilize
like the conservatives do against more gov spending or takeover.

Even with the ABC's report, gardisil is still has commercial spots on tv programing. People need to be informed and the ad should be pulled. It disgusts me because that ad is tugging at the roots of parental love to please protect your daughters. How hypocritical.

Since I cant attend because of financial difficulties, I too am wondering if there is some way to get transcripts or cds on this conference about vaccinations.Please let me know if there will be anything available for purchase afterwards.

I am thrilled to see a doctor have the guts to stand up and admit there is something wrong with vaccinations.There is a time and a place for some of them, but most are un-necessary.

We had it imprinted in us at a very young age that we had to get vaccinations for us and for our children, even if they could make us ill.

I am sick when I watch tv, or read ads and we are being told to get all these new vaccines just to protect us now, or our children, or our daughters, and if you really researched it to find out how many are getting very sick and even dying.

What's wrong with natural and holistic ways of taking care of ourselves amd fighting off illnesses, colds, and flu.

I applaud you Doctor Palevsky, and I Thank You.

I am so glad there is a voice for those of us who oppose the vaccine nightmare that has become our medical community's standard of practice. I am a mother of a toddler & I have been an ICU nurse for over 15 years. I am happy to say my daughter is healthy & developing normally, because we have avoided all shots. (yes, even the seemingly innocent vit K shot standardly given @ birth is a toxic dose when administered via shot.)My 17 year old niece is living with autism, & it has devastated our family. I thank the Dr's & organizations like yours for keeping our freedom of choice alive. But I worry daily about the forced H1N1 vaccine that may be on the forefront, and the loss of our freedom against madatory vaccination that will follow. Please keep up the fight, for those of us on a limited income(unlike big pharma)we have only you to save our children from this horror. Thank you, keep up the great work!! Sara J. Conway RN

Since attending the Common Cause Medical Research Conference in 200l in Winnipeg, & subsequently keeping in contact with & reading the Journal of Degenerative Diseases & other publications by these valiant, honest, self-sacrificial & well-informed, genuinely humanitarian people, I am very thankful to learn more about the horrors of the 'medical/pharmaceutical mafia,' the biochemical depopulation war (of which vaccines are a major part) v. every1 not belonging to the satanic elite,involved in, among other crimes, the invention of AIDs w' pathogenic mycoplasmas as co-factors. CCMRF's recent book, 'AIDS: the Crime Beyond Belief' by Donald & William Scott (Trafford Publishing) is not only a chronicle of the lead-up to this global plague & its dissemination but provides evidence of the JFK assassination conspiracy, etc. The actors in the corrupt political, scientific, military juggernaut are named. Official archives (e.g. peer-reviewed documents) as well as the writings of various other researchers are referred to throughout.
I have been vegetarian for 14 yrs, then vegan & am now on an approx 75% raw organic plant food diet, facilitated by my farm work, & am enjoying the enormous blessings of eating as people were divinely designed to eat. I'm more energized than ever, have far fewer intense mood swings, eatless & produce more, have lost most of my excess wt, & am getting more spiritual insights & revelling in nature & thanking the Creator-Redeemer daily!

There is more here than meets the eye...more sinister. I always think back to the PCL vaccine "Partial Chemical Lobotomy" used in the holocaust on victims.
It contained ingredients that caused mental retardation, some of the SAME ingredients still used today. "they" are in "clear" violation of amendments #4 & #14 of our U.S. constitution if "they" try to force these jabs. We should at least have the option of a "titer" test to determine if the jab is even necessary at all.
A lot of us will prove to have the Immunity without need for the jab. As a consumer, I do a lot of research...do your homework, know your rights, don't follow the "sheeple"!!!!

For over 22 years, as a Homeopathic Doctor, I have promoted the use of Homeopathics, herbs and diet in the place of vaccines. My patients are always challenged and intimidated by the medical system when they try to explain that they prefer not to have them. Educating parents and Physicians is a crucial step in parents feeling confident in their choices. I know it has meant the world to me to have this site to refer people to and other Doctors who are fighting this battle with education and information. THANK YOU

I think it would be wise if this group would target teacher unions and nurses at all schools. They are the ones who will be moved to allow change in forced school vaccines. School nurses are given "powers" through the controlling of students who do not get immunizations and many have "control" issues. Meaning they are dogmatic and unreasonable because they are like mama lions protecting (so they believe) their children against those evil parents who do not vaccinate the children.

If you can get a few nurses and teachers "in the know" and especially the teachers union, you could get some backing that may move Congress to repel the mandatory vaccines.

I, too, would love to get a copy or transcript of the conference. We were fired last year from our pediatrician's office for not vaccinating. (We have two healthy children. Ages 7 & 5) Neither one of them has had a single vaccine. I found another pediatrician, but still facing many of the same issues that I did in my former pediatrician's office. I go in to that office with my convictions, but not alot of memorized stats to fight back with.

My son's school called me this year to inquire about his vaccine schedule. I told them that nothing had changed. The school nurse responded that I would be forced to leave my son at home should an epidemic break out, therefore, causing him to miss a month or more of school.

It saddens me to think that the bullys of the vaccine world are making the rules for how we care for our children.

Thanks for articulating it in such a way that we can have a more open-minded dialogue about this. My former spouse thinks I am harming my child with PDD-NOS by refusing to have him vaccinated. I hope that eventually the real truth will prevail -- whatever it may be, based on scientific and empirical evidence, not politics and money.

I am extremely happy to see one more Doctor fighting for our rights to NOT get vaccines. Such useless things most drugs are anyway, and people don't seem to have a clue why they are so sick or their children, and so many would never believe it had anything to do with vaccines, foods,artificial sweeteners, GM foods,environment, etc. The list goes on, as you well know but I can see, day by day, there are more out there getting the knowledge they need, to be healthy once and for all. It's sickening to me, the way our government is trying to rule us, and how the Big Pharma is controlling everything these days. It's time for people to wake up, wake up, wake up!!! We are bigger than the controllers and we can take our freedom back from what appears to be becoming a communist world. I would love to attend this conference, but time and money doesn't allow me to. I don't even have children, but fighting for the rights of those that do. And many blessings and peace and RIGHTS for all the parents out there. Don't give up, keep fighting, this is supposed to be a free country, this is supposed to be GOD's world, but that's the problem, they are taking him out of it, and it's full of evil now!

We are truly concerned about our children being being required to take a vaccine, that has not been fully tested, contains toxins, mercury, aluminum, animal viruses and God knows what else. The risks of this vaccine far outweigh any benefits! If my sons have to stay home from school rather than take an "experimental" vaccine, so be it!

I had hoped that I would be able to attend but will be in family court on Oct.2 doing everything that I can to protect my daughter from being ordered to get vaccinated because her father has decided that I am not providing her with 'proper care" because I keep her healthy with minimal help from the allopathic medical community. I have 5 children, 4 vaccine free and this one who received a full round without my knowledge or consent when she was younger and with him for visitation. I thought that we had reached an agreement then but obviously not. I am grateful for all that NVIC does and ask for your thoughts and prayers on Oct. 2.

I am very happy to see that other people especially doctors are also fighting for our children. We, in South Africa are still very ignorant and those who know the truth are being intimidated and ridiculed.( also sometimes by our spouses who think that they know better)

My heart is bleeding for all the thousands of children and families who are suffering ( my son is also damaged )

I wish I could be attending this conference! The topic of vaccination isn't necessarily a chiropractic topic but the interference with innate intelligence through vaccines most certainly is! Informed consent, the right to chose what's best for our families is as American as apple pie...Let's not let them take our FREEDOM!

I just recieved info regarding the dangerous side effects of Guardasil. Where I live the Calgary Board of Education gives the vaccine to all grade 5 girls and the Catholic schoolboard came under fire for not offering in school, leaving the parents to decide.

As a skeptic of vaccines, and someone who is trying to give my children as toxin-free a life as possible i'm very pleased to see at least part of the medical profession waking up about this issue.

I recently heard a CD by Dr. Amod Tootla where he makes the following point:
When did we become a culture that asks our doctors for specific medicines instead of them prescribing to us? We've become a culture that lets pharmaceutical companies advertise on television! This was unheard of 10 yrs ago.

What has not been said yet is that most of the people who get this flu seriously are people who A) are being treated for it allopathically, and B) are people who develop pneumonia and die from that. The soldier who just died after coming down with flu was treated allopathically, worsened and died. He died from pneumonia. This is exactly what happened in the 1918 flu that is always referenced to scare people into compliance. What is not said is that these people were vaccinated, got sick, received antibiotics and aspirin, got pneumonia and died. Those people who went to their homoepaths and the homeopathic hospitials (which existed then) did not die, recovered within 2-3 days with no long lasting health effects. It is the aspirin and antibiotics that have caused the worsening of what is a very mild illness. This raises the question, for me at least, about all those people with compromised immune systems who get flu and succumb. What is their medicine protocol like? How many toxic drugs are they taking daily even before the flu? Then what happens when they are pumped full of more toxic drugs because they have developed a cough or cold? The business of propaganda spin is quite sinister.

During the attempts to vaccinate people with smallpox and anthrax vaccines after 9-11 at least 30% of hospital staff (doctors and nurses) refused the vaccination. They stood up to protest this dangerous vaccine and it stopped the program dead in its tracks. Hopefully, this round the public will organize better and be joined by a mass outcry from the medical profession. Since we are at such a crossroads in our country about our civil liberties, this battle over mandated flu vaccines is really a watershed issue for us. It has much bigger implications for us as a nation than just the invasion of our bodies with toxic poisons.

Health care reform has quickly morphed into an effort to mandate that people buy private corporation insurance products whether they want to or not; whether they can afford it or not! If the corporate structure can get mandated poisoning of our people on this newly proposed scale, then the next step is mandating that everyone use all their funds for corporate product, what will the next mandate be? No freedom of speech? No internet to communicate and dialogue? House arrests or concentration camps for those of us who protest? "they" are prepared, but are we?

I am a mother of one child. The day after my son's birth, the nurse at the hospital wanted to vaccinate my son with hepatitis B. She gave me very little information about the vaccine and with that little information, I felt that there was no reason to vaccinate my son. I had a gut feeling and I’ve been researching vaccination ever since. My dream would be to attend this conference. Most of my friends and family look at me like an alien because I question vaccination. It would be amazing to connect with families and health professionals on the issue of vaccination. My pediatrician isn't very communicative when it comes to this issue, I’ve asked questions and those questions have been pretty much ignored. NVIC is a great website and I am grateful for all the helpful information that is on this site.

I just want to thank everyone for their comments on here. I was just looking for some 'backup' on vaccines as I am preparing for my childrens' dr. appointment. My son was 2 (and my daughter was just born)when I learned about the dangers of vacc/immun. I stopped from that point, and had a challenge every time I went to the dr. office in explaining my actions. I initially wound up on a pro-vaccine website debunking misconceptions. I started thinking maybe I should have a few of them done, now that they're older etc.. But I am encouraged now and remember why 10 years ago I made this choice. The doctors/nurses will tell me it's only a small percentage of children who have severe reactions. Even if it's 3% of risk and 97% of success - why play the lottery with your children, especially since there are other ways to care for them. The medical community underestimates the power of homeopathic remedies and natural foods. I am going to take Dr. Palevsky's letter with me to the dr. office. Even though the conference has passed, it may lead a medical staff member to seek out more education. I really liked the part of his letter where he is empathetic to the health care providers that may feel something is wrong, but don't know how to stand up for what's right.

So few individuals in the US can recall the days prior to polio vaccination, and the scourge of the illnesses being vaccinated for. Only in wealthy countries do we seem to have the luxury to complain about amazing advances which albeit come with costs real or imagined, have saved millions from pain/agony and death. I challenge the doubters to travel to true 3rd world countries and live with the suffering families who would give their left hand to have your opportunities.
