The Vaccine Injury Compensation Program is a federal program and you do not need to hire an attorney who lives in your state to be your legal representative in the U.S. Court of Claims. This allows you to go outside of your state to hire the lawyer in the nation who best suits your needs.
Each attorney may have a different way of dealing with fees and costs and you should find out what costs are involved before you hire an attorney. You may need to engage experts to evaluate medical records, costs of depositions, transportation, photocopying, etc. Be sure to carefully discuss this with any prospective attorney so you are not surprised by bills you did not anticipate and have determined ahead of time how the bills will be paid.
