Tawny Buck is NVIC's volunteer Director of Government Relations. In 1995, Tawny Buck’s oldest daughter, Quincy, suffered a severe adverse reaction to her 2-month whole cell
pertussis immunization. The extent of her injuries left Quincy unable to walk or talk and she will require full-time support and care-giving for the rest of her life.
Tawny served on the Advisory Commission on Childhood Vaccines (ACCV) as a parent representative from 2005-2009. During her term she served as the Commission co-Chair. She is currently a consumer representative for the National Vaccine Advisory Commission (NVAC ) and the co-Chair of the Vaccine Safety Work Group (VSWG) for the NVAC.
In the winter of 2009 she was a participant in the
Salt Lake City Writing Group which provided expert consultation to the VSWG. Tawny holds a BA from
Eastern Washington University in both Business Administration and Business Education. She writes about her firsthand experiences raising a developmentally and physically disabled teenager in today’s world on her blog,

Tawny and her husband, Rob, are raising three children in
Wasilla, Alaska.
