Who is at highest risk for complications from Hepatitis A vaccine?
There is a gap in medical knowledge in terms of doctors being able to predict who will have an adverse reaction to hepatitis A vaccination, and who will not.
In the clinical trials of children receiving HAVRIX, higher rates of serious adverse reactions occurred in children who received HAVRIX in combination with MMR and varicella vaccine, in comparison to children who received HAVRIX alone or in children who received MMR and varicella vaccine followed by HAVRIX vaccine at Day 42 of the clinical trial.1
According to the CDC, most serious adverse reactions following hepatitis A vaccination occur in adults, with one-third of those reported reactions occurring when hepatitis A vaccine was administered in combination with other vaccines.2
